(Hartford, Conn. WTIC)The Milford State's Attorney's office is investigating a fatal Hartford-Police involved shooting before nine Saturday night on Gilman Street.
The suspect has not been identified. The officer who fired the one shot has been identified as officer Ashley Martinez.
Hartford police Chief Jason Thody say they received a report of a man armed with a rifle and handgun. Thody said the rifle had a scope. They located the suspect. He refused to comply with orders to drop his weapon, after pointing it, he was shot once. He later died at Hartford Hospital.
Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin says it's important that a thorough, independent investigation occur with body camera footage being released as soon as possible.
