Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A cross country truck driver from Safford, Arizona is facing charges after Hartford police say he set up a meeting with whom he thought was the uncle of a 15-year-old girl.

It turns out that Russell Barney, 55, was communicating with a detective who'd assumed the identity of the "uncle".

Multiple agencies had been conducting an operation targeting child exploitation.

It was during the encounters that investigators say Barney shared pornographic images and consented to a sexual encounter with a juvenile.

It was April 6th that Barney was taken into custody as he approached an undercover vehicle parked at a Hartford gas station.

Police say he was in possession of child pornography when he was arrested.

The suspect is facing a number of charges, including criminal attempt at illegal sexual contact of a minor, attempted sexual assault, illegal possession of child pornography, and promoting a minor for an obscene performance.
