A break in a Waterbury sexual assault case from 2016.
Police have charged Niamkey Amichia, 33, for posing as a police officer and then sexually assaulting a woman.
Authorities had been making little progress in the investigation until police in Washington State this year were investigating a separate sexual assault case, and discovered the suspect, Amichia's, DNA matched that of the Waterbury case.
Amichia has been extradited to Waterbury, where he's accused of home invasion, kidnapping, sexual assault, and impersonating a police officer.
He was arraigned last week, and is being held in prison here in Connecticut.
