Arrest in Waterbury child death case

Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Waterbury police have made an arrest in the death of a child from over a year ago.

Cynthia Hannah, 35, is charged.

Police say last October 5th, they responded to an apartment on Green Street on a mdeical assist call involving a one-year-old child.

Hannah was caring for the little one at the time.

The baby was not breathing and was transported first to St. Mary's and then to Yale New Haven Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead October 10, 2022.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide based on injuries the baby sustained.

A yearlong investigation led to Hannah being identified as a suspect.

She is charged with manslaughter, assault and reckless endangerment.

Hannah was arraigned on Wednesday.

Bond was set at $100,000.
