Arrest made in New Haven park sexual assault

New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - An arrest has been made in connection with a sexual assault in a New Haven dog park last month.

Police say the suspect brandished a box cutter and assaulted the female jogger at Fort Hale Park on August 9th.

He's been identified as Ludvi Carias-Interiano, 34, of West Haven.

New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said the state lab was able to identify DNA in the national database that also linked Carias-Interiano to a similar crime in Plano, Texas

He also said the suspect was in the country illegally.

Carias-Interiano is charged with aggravated sexual assault and unlawful retraint.

Bond was set at $750,000.

Jacobson thanked his detectives for their dogged police work and praised the victim's bravery and courage in light of the attack to provide information leading to the arrest.
