Arrest made in Norwich homicide

Norwich, Conn./WTIC Radio - An arrest has been made in a Norwich homicide.

Police say the victim, Nelson Chumap, 39, arrived at Backus Hospital Friday evening covered in blood.

He later died from a stab wound.

According to police the suspect, Jhon Paul Cela Pichisaca, 23, stabbed the victim during some type of altercation in the area of 118 Baltic Road.

That's where the suspect was found.

Police worked the case through the weekend, culling through video and interviewing witnesses.

They ultimately charged the suspect with murder and assault.

Bond was set at $500,000.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Norwich police.
