Arrest made in Windsor Locks cold case

Windsor Locks, Conn./WTIC Radio - An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a New York City cab driver in Windsor Locks 20 years ago.

Windsor Locks police say 38-year-old Mohammed Ali was picked up Wednesay in Dublin, Ohio by the U.S. Marshals Service.

He had been wanted for the February 2005 shooting death of Mureed Hussain.

Investigators say advancements in forensic technology, interviews, canvassing, and a re-examination of the evidence seized in 2005 allowed detectives to develop suspects.

Hussain was found with at least one gunshot wound in a car off exit 42 of Interstate 91.

Police and marshals say the suspect was taken into custody at a home in Dublin.

Police say the case went cold but was reopened and an warrant for Ali's arrest was secured.

Windsor Locks police say they're working on extraditing Ali back to Connecticut where he'll be arraigned on the murder charge.
