Avon, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man accused of sexual assault at an Avon daycare center worked in other locations.
That's according to a letter to families who had children enrolled at BrightPath daycare facilities in Simsbury, Windsor and West Hartford.
Jan Carlos Berrios-Otero, 29, was arrested last month and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault at the Avon location, where he's accused of abusing five young children. They include the first reported victim, a 4-year-old boy and others between the ages of 3 and 5.
In that letter, the company says it reviewed its records and determined that Berrios-Otero had previously worked at those three other locations in a limited capacity, adding they have shared that information with police.
However, attorneys for the families of possible victims want BrightPath to release the exact dates when Berrios-Otero worked, and where.
“Today, BrightPath finally confirmed what we already believed to be true: Jan-Carlos Berrios Otero worked at multiple additional facilities affiliated with BrightPath/Busy Bees in addition to the Avon location," said attorney Sarah Klein, representing the families. "The children and their families deserve answers—not continued silence. Parents should not be forced to piece together the scope of potential exposure one carefully worded disclosure at a time."
Berrios-Otero was arrested last month and is being held on a total of $4 million bond.
The BrightPath in Avon is due to close May 22.
