Biden issues disaster declaration for Connecticut

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - President Biden has approved a disaster declaration for Connecticut.

This, as a result of the historic flooding and resultant land and mudslides that occurred during torrential rainfall on August 18th.

The action now makes federal funding available for those impacted most in Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties.

Homes and businesses were destroyed and roads and bridges washed out with some areas receiving well over a foot of rain.

Federal funding will also be made available for hazard mitigation.

Robert Fogel with FEMA has been appointed to coordinate the federal recovery operation.
