Fairfield, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-Republican Gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski, citing a need for transparency in government, has chosen Deputy House Republican Leader Laura Devlin (Fairfield, Trumbull) as his running mate for Lieutenant Governor.

Devlin is currently serving her fourth term in the General Assembly and serves on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding, Education, Transportation and Legislative Management Committees.

Devlin said, "People are struggling. State government can and should do more. Seniors on fixed incomes are struggling to pay bills and fill their cars with gas. Small businesses are struggling to find employees. They're facing higher taxes and more barriers to growth."

Stefanowski, who lost to Lamont in the last election, used the  announcement to criticize the current administration.

"He's failed to put the basic controls and policies in place, to protect our money," he said, "and we're seeing an explosion of fraud, abuse and waste across the state as a result of it."

State Democratic State Chairman Nancy DiNardo said, "Democrats raised the minimum wage to support working people and families. This Republican ticket doesn't even believe there should be one. Democrats fight for an economy that works for everyone. Bob spent years targeting vulnerable Americans through payday loans."

Further, she said, "The Lamont Administration is cutting taxes, lowering everyday costs, delivering surpluses that are reaching record highs and making investments in schools, infrastructure and public safety. Voters can see the difference."
