Bristol, Conn. (WTIC Radio)- Two Bristol police officers were fatally shot and a third seriously injured as they responded to a domestic incident on Redstone Hill Road Wednesday night.
State Police said Bristol Police received a 911 call at 10:29 last night reporting an apparent dispute between brothers at 310 Redstone Hill Road. One suspect opened fire on police as they arrived.
"Preliminary information appears to point to the 911 call being a deliberate act to lure law enforcement to the scene," say state police.
One officer was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other officers were rushed to the hospital, one died and the other was seriously injured.
The officers who died are identified as Sgt. Justin Demonte, 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, 34. The injured officer, Alec Iurato, 26, was treated at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, then released at midday Thursday.
The male gunman, identified as Nicholas Brutcher, 35, was shot and killed.
His brother, Nathan Brutcher, 32, was shot and is being treated at St. Francis.
Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould said officer Demonte was the father of two children and his wife is expecting a third.

"These heroes answered the call to duty, responding without hesitation. They do and will continue to do that every night. Our community has been rocked. Our police department has been rocked," he said.
"Bristol is our big, small town. It is also known as an all-heart city. Today our heart is broken. We are united in grief for these hero officers," said Bristol Mayor Jeff Caggiano.
