BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The State of Connecticut has fined a Bridgeport bar for breaking COVID rules.
Bridgeport police went to investigate a shorts-fired report at the Mango Z Sports Bar during early morning hours on December 20.
It was noted that more than 25 people were inside the establishment, in violation of the state's gathering size restrictions. Officials also noted it was operating past the 10 p.m. curfew for restaurants.
The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection discovered Mango Z did not have an active liquor permit at the time of the incident. Its most recent permit expired on August 9, 2020. The Department of Public Health has referred the issue to the State’s Attorney for Bridgeport to determine a possible violation of liquor control laws.
In a written statement, Governor Lamont thanks "...officials with the City of Bridgeport for working with the state to take a strong stand on enforcing these important safety measures.” He notes that the overwhelming number of businesses in Connecticut have done "a great job" working to meet COVID restrictions.
