Incumbent Democrat Ned Lamont, Republican Bob Stefanowski, and independent Rob Hotaling spent an hour talking about a number of issues.

On crime, Lamont sang the praises of the Police Athletic League and what it does to engage children and keep them out of trouble.

But Stefanowski says policing reforms passed by the legislature two years ago and signed into law by Lamont have handcuffed officers in their attempts to quell crime.

Hotaling said more community trust building is needed among police, parents and schools, along with an investment in technology.

Other issues discussed included education, affordable housing, and how best to utilize the state surplus.
