NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police trace a threat Tuesday against Hillhouse High School to a city student.
The message that was being passed around among students and staff contained threats of violence against police officers and the school.
Investigators were able to track down the student allegedly responsible through an IP address connected to an Instagram account.
The student admitted to making the post and claimed it was a joke.
Police say the student has been taken to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
Charges are being pursued against the student.
“We take threats of violence very seriously, and we will do everything in our power to investigate and address these threats,” said Chief of Police Karl Jacobson.
