Coalition Against Domestic Violence leader announces departure

Karen Jarmoc

GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - After nearly a decade, the chief executive officer of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence is leaving the organization.

Karen Jarmoc, a former state legislator, will depart in mid-December to take on a position at The Hartford, the coalition announced Monday.

During Jarmoc's tenure, the coalition's budget grew from $7.4 million in 2011 to more than $18 million today, as the organization took on more responsibilities related to medical advocacy, housing, lethality assessments and additional resources for survivors of domestic violence, according to a press release.

"This job has been the opportunity of a lifetime," says Jarmoc. "The occasion to wake up each day and be a part of a tremendous team of advocates who are working tirelessly to keep individuals safe in our state is immensely gratifying. I will miss the people and the work, but am excited for this new chapter at The Hartford."

Jarmoc will lead environmental stewardship, diversity and inclusion, social responsibility, corporate ethics and governance practices at the insurer.
