
Manchester, Conn./WTIC Radio - It was a strong finish for the men's winner of this year's Manchester Road Race.
On a rain-slickened course, American Andrew Colley turned on the jets at the last three-quarters of a mile to overtake Kenyan Edwin Kurgat to win the 88th running of the MRR with an unofficial time of 21-minutes-8 seconds.
He says he was injured for a number of years, adding "my running career has been more injured than healthy", and crediting his will to stick with his vision and work hard.
For the women, it was a record fouth straight first placec finish for Weini Kelati.
She said the rain didn't bother her, adding "it makes it more fun. I like this condition better than the heat."
Kelati took first place with an unofficial time of 23-minutes-10-seconds.
