Hartford, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-In a special meeting, the state Bond Commission approved the allocation of an additional $20 million for the State Pier in New London.
Most recent estimates show the cost of the Pier has increased from $157 to $235 million.
Port Authority Chair David Kooris said the difference can be found in engineered cost estimates, vetted by third parties and the actual bid prices from contractors. Kooris added the estimates were off.
The Pier, expected to assist the construction of an offshore windfarm, is expected to be completed next February.
