Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - It turns out, former Waterbury water superintendent Brad Malay wasn't qualified to do the job.
The 50-year-old was arrested Thursday night following an investigation into alleged misconduct.
Malay was the face of the department during water main breaks that plagued the city last December.
According to police, Malay lied on his applications for assistant water superintendent and water superintendent.
Police launched an investigation into water flow issues in city fire hydrants after firefighters experienced problems trying to put out a fire last month on Bennett Avenue.
Investigators say Malay's alleged misconduct was not directly related to the flow issues.
He faces two counts of forgery and is free on a $10,000 bond.
Malay is due in court May 12.
