Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Connecticut is helping out in the wildfire fight in Canada.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is dispatching a six-member crew from its Forestry Division to assist in suppression efforts.
The team left Friday from Marlborough.
It's the second Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew to head north.
That team consists of 19 firefighters from Connecticut and one from Rhode Island.
The crews are made up of both full time DEEP staff and "call when needed" personnel.
All volunteer for their assignments.
While the fires that produced the smoke condition in Connecticut this week originated in Ontario and Minnesota, the DEEP crew will work in Quebec as part of an overall effort to combat fires across Canada.
