Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A unit of the Connecticut National Guard is about to ship out to assist in the war against Iran.
On Tuesday, Governor Lamont, Guard Adjutant General Francis Evon, and others will take part in a send-off ceremony at Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby.
About 150 soldiers, MPs with the 192nd Military Police Battalion, will deploy to an undisclosed location in support of Operation Epic Fury.
Their mission will be to, among other things, provide logistical support, staff planning and security for a confinement facility for U.S. military prisoners.
The ceremony gets underway at 9:30 a.m., after which the unit will bid their families good bye.
The soldiers will then board a jet to an active duty base and then on to one of several deployment locations.
