HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The State of Connecticut is joining a multistate licensure compact that allows nurses to practice in 43 participating states and territories.
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses will be able to obtain one multistate license that allows them to practice nursing legally in all participating locations.
Nurses avoid the process of applying for and obtaining a new license in each individual jurisdiction where they want to practice, including Connecticut.
“This compact increases access to care while maintaining public protection,” said Governor Lamont in a written statement.
Connecticut Senate Republicans, also in a written statement, point out “This has been a Republican priority for more than a decade," adding that there has been considerable work done in the area of recruiting and retaining more nurses in Connecticut.
