Hamden, Conn.(WTIC Radio)-An expert in cybersecurity said corporations are making strides improving on-line security, but for individuals that effort changed very little.
That assessment comes from Quinnipiac University professor of Cybersecurity Fred Scholl, commenting during Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
Scholl said technology has improved and faces challenges along with the human element which he adds is still a weak spot.
"Ten years ago we didn't have as many nation-state attacks. Now they're all over the world. The threats are worse and technology controls are better. But for people it's stayed the same," Scholl said.
Further Scholl commented," There are over 25-hundred hardware and software security vendors out there. People think that technology is the answer. Better management practices are the only thing
that will secure enterprises."
Scholl reiterated the popular mantra, verify then proceed before opening text and emails.
