NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Connecticut Department of Transportation is celebrating National Bike Month this May.
They're encouraging the public to get outside and go for a ride as the DOT takes part in National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 7.
CTDOT is also participating in Bike to Work Week from May 11-17 with various activities planned.
“National Bike Month showcases the many benefits of bicycling for transportation, recreation, and health,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto.
In 2005, the CTDOT established a Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS). Since then, many communities participating in the SRTS Program have shown improved safety and accessibility for all students. The DOT is now sharing an update on this initiative.
