SUFFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police arrest a New London man at McDougall Walker Correctional Institution on allegations he strangled his cellmate to death.

State Police say security camera footage from the prison on December 12, 2024, shows Kyle McKinnon, 31, tossing the body of Kenne Montaner-Buscampell, 26, onto a table in a common area before returning to their cell.

McKinnon is further accused of throwing Montaner-Buscampell's belongings out of the cell once he returned to it.

A correction officer video interview recorded McKinnon as saying he "choked him out" while he was sleeping that morning, before removing his body from their cell.

Asked why, McKinnon is recorded as saying he believe he was being lied to an "manipulated" but "couldn't elaborate how" and that he had told DOC staff "multiple times" not to place him in a cell with anyone.

McKinnon is charged with murder and first-degree strangulation.

Bond is $1,000,000.
