Hamden State Representative Josh Elliott, who ran a progressive challenge in this year's Democratic primary race for Governor, concedes to incumbent Ned Lamont.
Elliott spent much of the campaign making the case about the need for a changing, pointing often to eight years under the Lamont administration.
Receiving roughly 35% of the early vote counts from Tuesday, Elliott started to gain momentum on issues that included heavier taxation on the wealthy and more localized power grids, similar to utilities in Wallingford and Norwich, as a way to bring down energy costs.
Lamont, however, touted his record of eight years and various accomplishments on raising the minimum wage and instituting a family medical leave policy.
The race marked the first time in about 50 years since a sitting Governor received a primary from within their own party.
Elliott has continued to campaign to hold his house seat while running for Governor.
