It happened in downtown Hartford.
As described by Farhan Memon of the Connecticut chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, state representative Maryam Khan and her family were attending prayers at the XL Center in observance of the holiday Eid, when a man approached them, made vulgar remarks, and then threw Khan to the ground before he was chased away.
Representative Khan suffered minor injuries -- scratches and bruises.
The group says more police should have been around to prevent any attacks on Muslim worshippers. Hartford Police are not calling this a hate crime, or not yet.
