(WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are marking the third consecutive year of decline in the number of DUI arrests they've made during their Thanksgiving holiday weekend enforcement period.
Troopers made 30 DUI arrests during the weekend that began at midnight on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
The 30 DUI arrests in 2023 is down from 41 in 2022 and 50 in 2021.
Other takeaways from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend enforcement period for 2023 are 5,812 calls for service, 292 motor vehicle assistance calls, 188 speeding violations, 126 seatbelt violations, and 492 other violations (including following too closely, cell phone usage, unsafe lane changing, etc).
