Investigators have found that of the tens of thousands of phony tickets they are looking into, 1,000 of them falsely identify the driver as being Native American. That's according to Channel 3.
In all cases, it says, the drivers were actually not Native American.
The report identifies the longtime trooper who wrote those tickets as Chris Melanson, who is now indefinitely suspended.
Governor Lamont tells Channel 3 he has now hired some some independent investigators.
