CT's next budget debate, vote expected

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - We're in the last three days of state legislative session.

What hasn't come up yet for a debate and vote: the state budget.

Democratic lawmakers suggested a one-year budget last week, as they considered how to navigate raises for nursing and group home workers, on top of ongoing concerns about cuts from Washington.

The Governor threatened to veto that idea.

Since they reached a consensus late Thursday into Friday, House Speaker Matt Ritter expected the budget to come up for a vote either Monday or Tuesday, although that's cutting it close with the legislative session slated to end Wednesday night.

Once the budget has passed, the implementer has to clear the State House and Senate. That establishes a plan to set the budget in motion.

Both the House and Senate go into session at 11 a.m. Monday.
