Connecticut State Police have arrested both a current and a former member of the East Hartford police force on charges of driving under the influence.
Fifty-five-year-old John Pronovost, who retired earlier this year, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
Pronovost, of Bristol, was sitting next to East Hartford Police Lieutenant Joseph Ficacelli. He is now on paid desk duty after also being charged with DUI.
State troopers say it happened shortly after midnight on Sunday, when they stopped a vehicle that they say was being driven erratically.
The troopers charge that Ficacelli and Pronovost at one point after that switched who was driving.
Both also allegedly refused to take field sobriety tests and were released on $500 bonds.
