Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Waterbury nightclub where a man was gunned down last week has had its liquor license suspended.

The state Department of Consumer Protection took the action against the Litt Ultra Lounge.

That's where 38-year-old Adam Bellamy of New Jersey and two others were shot on September 3.

Waterbury Police Chief Fred Spagnolo sent a letter to DCP, saying additional personnel had been assigned to the club after a February shooting injured the club's head of security, and that it was a drain on limited police resources.

The case was referred by Waterbury police to the DCP Liquor Control Commission.

In his letters, Spagnolo said criminal activity that has occurred at the lounge has had a negative impact on public safety and quality of life.

The club is now closed until further notice.
