Rocky Hill, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Residents with expired or unneeded prescription medications can get rid of them Saturday through the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day.
Many police departments already have drop boxes at their respective headquarters.

The goal of the collection, South Windsor police Sergeant Mark Cleverdon said, is to offer an outlet where medicines that are no longer needed can be safely disposed of to prevent environmental harm or accidental overdoses.
After they collect the meds, Cleverdon said they're taken to a DEA satellite office in Rocky Hill which serves the Hartford Capital Region.
After processing the pills, they're then brought to a central disposal location.
In South Windsor, the collection runs from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at police headquarters on Sand Hill Road.
Additional collection site locations can be found at the website, dea.gov.
