Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Hartford police say they have recovered a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run from Wednesday night.

Just before 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to an area at Windsor and Loomis Streets on a report of a motorcycle crash.

Police say two dirt bikes were traveling south on Windsor Street when a vehicle turned in front of them, hitting one of the riders.

David Michael Hicks, 31 of East Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The white Honda Crosstour alleged to be the suspect vehicle, was found ditched in the south end of Hartford.

Hartford Police Chief Jason Thody said “this tragic outcome highlights the dangers of operating these off road bikes and ATVs on the road. They are not designed for the street and create a hazardous condition for everyone that travels on our roads. Our officers have seized 57 of these types of vehicles and made 49 arrests for illegally operating them in Hartford so far this year."
