Enfield Police make arrest in connection with double homicide

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Enfield police have made an arrest in connection with a double homicide.

Police say they received a call around 6:34 p.m. Sunday for a disturbance at 17B Alden Avenue.


When officers entered the home, they found a man and a woman suffering unspecified injuries. One of the parties was dead at the scene. The other was taken to Baystate Hospital, where they died.

James Samuel Bell, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene, said police. Maryrose Riach, 72, was pronounced dead at the hospital, they said.

Police say Harlee Swols, 22, of Enfield was also found at the home. She has been charged with violating a protective order. She was scheduled to appear in Enfield Superior Court Monday. Swols was being held on $2 million bond.

Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox tells WTIC 1080 News that investigators are now speaking with neighbors and are working to secure a search warrant to probe the crime scene.
