WATERBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Waterbury police are investigating a fatal crash and a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a pedestrian over the weekend.
Police say Alban Cota, 40, of waterbury, was riding a "slingshot" motorcycle around 9:50 p.m. Friday. Cota was going down Meriden Road when he crashed into an Infinity sedan.
Cota was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver of the Infinity remained on-scene and is cooperating with police.
On Saturday night, police say a car struck a 60-year-old pedestrian on Pine Street around 11 p.m. The vehicle, believed to be a dark-colored Audi, continued to drive off. Officers say the vehicle's Connecticut registration is AX02055. The suspect vehicle was later seen speeding down East Main Street with heavy front-end damage.
The pedestrian who was struck is in critical condition at an area hospital, with serious injuries.
