Willimantic, Conn./WTIC Radio - A person is dead following an early Sunday morning shooting in Willimantic.
City police say they responded just before 2:00 a.m. to an apartment complex on Main Street.
A male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation suggests there was some sort of altercation between the victim and the suspect that led to the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene following the shooting, police say.
The State Police Eastern District Major Crimes squad is assisting in the investigation.
The victim's name has not yet been released and police say there is no threat to the public.
