SHELTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Shelton police arrested a father and son on Tuesday and Wednesday over a burglary in January.
Police say Christopher Barretta, Sr., 47, and Christopher Barretta, Jr., 18, both of Orange, broke into a Shelton person's garage on January 6.
The homeowner, who was not home, watched the burglary in progress via remote surveillance video. The suspects allegedly broke into the garage, backed a truck inside, and shut the door behind them.
Two Shelton police officers arrived and announced their presence from the driveway.
Barrtetta Sr. drove his truck through the closed garage door, nearly missing an officer and his vehicle in the driveway. A short pursuit ensued and the two men were able to elude police. The truck was later discovered abandoned in the back yard of a nearby house.
Investigation and search and seizure warrants led police to the father and son.
Barretta Sr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with first degree burglary, first degree reckless endangerment, first degree criminal mischief and fourth degree larceny. Barretta Sr. was given a Milford court date of 03/16/2021 and was released on a $10,000.00 bond.
Barretta Jr. was arrested Tuesday and charged with Burglary 1st Degree and Larceny 4th Degree. Barretta Jr. was given a Milford Superior court date of 03/11/2021 and released on a $10,000.00 bond.
