New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - Connecticut is reporting it's first batch of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus this summer.

The mosquitoes were trapped along the shoreline in Darien, Fairfield, New Haven and Stamford on July 18 and 19 as part of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station's Mosquito Management Program.
"The current warm weather and high humidity provides ideal conditions for mosquito activity", said Philip Armstrong, medical entomologist at CAES.
Director Jason White says monitoring will continue for increased presence of the virus.
Symptoms of West Nile include headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash.
Health experts say precautions to take to minimize mosquito bites include curtailing activity at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most prevalent, wearing long clothing when outdoors, and using mosquito repellent.
