Both cases involve swimmers who went into the waters of the Long Island Sound off Connecticut.

In both cases, the state health department says the swimmers had open cuts that were exposed

in the water while flesh-eating bacteria was present. These deaths involve two different swimming spots

but the department is not specifying where.

And just across the sound, New York officials are investigating whether a Long Island swimmer who died from flesh eating bacteria was exposed in local waters or in another state.
