Florida man killed in Salisbury crash

SALISBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Salisbury.

Troopers say Jason Titunik, 19, of Sarasota, Florida, was killed in the crash on Route 44 at the intersection of Twin Lakes Road around 6:21 p.m. Thursday.

Titunik was a passenger in a BMW X5 3.0I that collided into a utility pole in the right shoulder.

First responders transported Titunik to Sharon Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries, but he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver, identified as Robert Steinmetz, 19, of Falls Village, suffered minor injuries.

The utility pole was cracked at the base but remained standing.

The crash remains under investigation.
