Connecticut State Police say the driver who caused a fiery crash that killed three people early Sunday in Stratford fled the scene before officers could arrive.
Around 4:48 a.m. Sunday, Troopers say a Lexus, registered to an address in Bridgeport, rear-ended a Honda Civic that lost control and crashed into a Chrysler that was driving in front of it, near Exit 36 on the Southbound side of the Merritt Parkway.
The three people inside the Civic were killed. They were identified as Maria Vasquez-Chacon, 29, of Trenton, New Jersey, and Joselyn Vasquez-Chacon, 21, of an unknown address. A third passenger died but hasn't been identified.
The driver in the Chrysler, also from Trenton, New Jersey, had no apparent injury.
Connecticut State Police are asking any witnesses to come forward by contacting Trooper Drew Smith at (203) 696-2500.
