Milford, Conn (WTIC Radio)-A former Milford Police Officer faces charges for allegedly stealing money from the Police Benevolent Association.
In late April the Milford Police Benevolent Association reported that officer Peter Parks had stolen funds over a number of years.
An internal investigation began. He was relieved of his duties, his police powers suspended and he was placed on leave.
Police Chief Keith Mello recommended Parks be terminated. A termination hearing was scheduled but Parks resigned before it.
A criminal investigation began by the Division of Criminal Justice, Office of Chief State's Attorney and Milford State's Attorney. A forensic examination
determined that Parks misappropriated more than $184-thousand in private funds from the PBA.
The 42-year old Parks was arrested and charged with first degree larceny. He's due in Milford Superior Court December 26th.
