Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Governor Lamont is announcing an independent review is being launched following an audit that turned up erroneous records within the Connecticut State Police management system and the traffic stop racial profiling database.
It was determined that thousands of fake tickets had been entered into the system over the last several years.
Now, former U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly will oversee the probe.
Daly and her team will interview "troopers, constables, and others who may have relevant information", Lamont said.
“It is critical that Connecticut residents have trust in the State Police, just as it is critical that troopers earn that trust each and every day,” Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner James Rovella said.
Later this week, the legislature's Public Safety and Judiciary Committees will hold an informational hearing that's expected to include officials with the state police.
