NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven police are investigating a shooting that's injured four people early Friday morning.
Police say they responded to reports of gunshots around 2 a.m. in the 800 block of Chapel Street. A 22-year-old man from Hamden was found in the area, suffering from a gunshot wound.
While responding to that situation, officers were flagged down concerning another shooting victim near Church Street. A 19-year-old woman was found in that area, unresponsive. She remains in critical condition at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Two other victims, a 19-year-old from New Haven and a 21-year-old Hamden man, were later found suffering from gunshot wounds.
The young men injured in the shooting have non-life-threatening injuries and are also receiving care at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Detectives believe the incident primarily occurred on Church Street by Center Street and say that two of the victims ran after the gunshots.
A firearm and ballistic evidence were found at the scene.
