Fund is launched to assist CT renters facing eviction

Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state Department of Housing is out with a renter's assistance program for those who may be facing eviction.

A total of $12.5 million is being earmarked toward the Eviction Prevention Fund from Unite-CT and the Rent Bank.

It will provide up to $5,000 to pay off past due rent to current landlords.

State housing commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno said the fund will help those facing financial hardship, while also providing landlords with financial relief, as well.
