HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The average cost per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Connecticut tops $3.00 for the first time in two years.
AAA reports that Connecticut's cost per gallon is not too far ahead of the nation's average.
Gas was about $3 per gallon at this same time of year in both 2018 and 2019. Gas was, on average, $1.05 cheaper this time a year ago.
Hartford AAA spokeswoman Amy Parmenter says "with so many people getting vaccinated and the easing of restrictions, AAA is expecting Americans will return this summer to the Great American Road Trip and gas prices will not be a deterrent because the desire to go is just too great."
AAA reports the national gas average is at $2.96 and rising.
