New Britain, Conn./WTIC Radio - She's still in the exploratory stage when it comes to a run for governor.

But New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart's exploratory committee has released results of an internal poll.

The survey finds the six-term mayor holding a sizable lead over potential Republican challengers for the party's nomination.

Stewart holds a 30-point advantage over state Senator Ryan Fazio, who formally entered the race last week.

A primary for the party's nomination is still a year away.

The poll of 400 likely voters was conducted between August 11 through August 14 and has a margin of error of plus/minus 4.9%, according to the firm that conducted the poll,
On Message, Inc.

Thirty-five percent of the respondents were undecided.

Others mentioned or who are running for the GOP nomination include Westport First Selectwoman Jen Tooker, Peter Lumaj, and Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti.

Governor Lamont hasn't said yet officially whether he's running for a third term.
