Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Archdiocese of Hartford is directing a half million dollars in emergency funding to food banks in Hartford, New Haven, and Litchfield Counties.
Archbishop Christopher Coyne says the funds will come from the Archbishop's Annual Appeal.
“The Catholic Church provides relief and hope for God’s children. It’s what we have done for over 2,000 years and what we continue to do today,” says Archbishop Coyne.
The Archbishop's Annual Appeal is a fundraising initiative conducted annually to raise and distribute funds to serve communities in the three counties.
There are over 300,000 recipients of SNAP in Connecticut.
