HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hartford police arrest a city resident in connection with the deadly hit-and-run crash of a toddler in early June.
Hartford police say Melvin Daniels, 30, of Hartford, allegedly struck the 19-month-old girl outside a laundromat on New Britain Avenue around 10:55 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024.
The child, identified as Camila Elizabeth Ramirez-Carcamo, later died at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
The 2013 black BMW 328xi that Daniels was driving at the time of the crash was later found in New Haven the following morning.
After a nearly month-long investigation, police are charging Daniels with second-degree manslaughter, evading responsibility resulting in death and having an illegally tinted windshield.
Bond for Daniels is $300,000.
