Hartford Police say a man is dead and two officers are hurt from gunshots exchanged during an officer involved shooting in Newington.
The incident began unfolding around 11:07 p.m., when police were investigating what they call "illegal activity" in the area of 9 Fales Street.
A suspect fled that scene on foot, and officers began to pursue the suspect.
When police caught up with the suspect, a struggle began at which time a police officer reported feeling what seemed like a gun in the suspect's waistband.
The suspect was able to get away from police again, enter a vehicle, and drive south - out of Hartford.
Hartford Police began receiving support from area departments in a pursuit that ended in a stop on Webster Court in Newington.
At that time, there was a shooting that killed the suspect and injured two police officers, one from Hartford and another from Newington.
The injured officers are in stable condition at a local hospital.
The suspect's name hasn't been released.
The State Inspector General is taking over the investigation.
